Intero Real Estate Services Agent’s and Employees Contribute Back

Silicon Valley, California (November 28, 2011) – The Intero Foundation (www.interofoundation.org), a non-profit organization, founded by Intero Real Estate Services founders in 2002 to benefit children in need, announced that it has donated over $200,000 to 20 charities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area in 2011 as part of its mission to positively impact the growth and well being of children in our communities.

John Thompson, Intero’s Executive Vice President explains, “Agents donate a portion of their commission per transaction. As a company, this commitment makes a big statement. Therefore, when you drive by an Intero for sale sign or work with an Intero Realtor, feel good that at risk children in the community will be served and we thank each and every one of you for your support.”

“When Intero Real Estate Services was founded just nine years ago, its founders set out to create a company that was different. That difference would be based on values,” states Founder, President and CEO of Intero, Gino Blefari. “One of those values is Commitment. The Intero Foundation is our vehicle for expressing a meaningful and sustained commitment to our community.”

Intero Foundation CFO, Cathy Jackson adds, “The organizations we support may be smaller, but they have a huge impact on thousands of lives in the Bay Area. Unfortunately, they’re often over shadowed by the larger nonprofits that people are more aware of. For many of the organizations we give to, our donation makes up a large portion of their annual budget. They really rely on us for help in keeping their programs and services up and running.”

The Intero Foundation continues to impact the growth and well being of children and youth in the communities we serve. Empowered by Intero agents and employees, the Intero Foundation has given over $1.9 million in grants to nonprofit organizations that support children in need. In 2011 alone, over $200,000 was granted to organizations benefitting children in need.

Save a bag and support The Intero Foundation

During the upcoming months of July, August, and September the Intero Foundation, a non-profit organization funded, promoted and governed by Intero Real Estate Services, Inc. agents is being featured by the Whole Foods Market on Blossom Hill Road, in their Nickels for Non-profits campaign.

Nickels for Non-Profits is the Whole Foods community giving program which features a local non-profit for three months. Every time a customer reuses a shopping bag, a nickel is donated to the chosen local non-profit. The goal of the program is to reduce the use of new bags while increasing funding for a local non-profit.

The Blossom Hill Whole Foods store chose The Intero Foundation as a beneficiary of the five cent bag refund program because they felt the Intero Foundation could reach the most number of people to promote the event and bring people to the Blossom Hill store and also because of the great work the foundation does for kids. Customers who shop at this location and bring their reusable shopping bags for groceries at checkout will be asked by a Whole Foods checker if they would like to donate five cents to the Intero Foundation or receive a five cent credit between July 4, 2011 and September 24, 2011.

In addition, the Intero Foundation volunteer Realtors will be at a table near the entrance several Saturdays each month promoting the Foundation, and handing out reusable grocery bags as well as information about the Intero Foundation.

Thank you for re-using your shopping bags, honoring the environment and supporting both The Intero Foundation and your local Whole Foods Market!

First Annual Hot Wheels for Kids Car Show Benefiting the Intero Foundation

This past Saturday, Intero Saratoga hosted the First Annual Hot Wheels for Kids Car Show Benefiting the Intero Foundation. One of Intero’s most unique and truly awesome qualities is our commitment to the Intero Foundation and to our communities. Hot Wheels for Kids was a prime example of that commitment. By teaming up local car enthusiasts, businesses, the Saratoga community, and members of the Intero family, we put 71 cars on display from hot rods, muscle cars to classics. There was music, food, raffle prizes, Hot Wheels cars for the kids, and good old-fashioned fun. We had about 500 attendees and were able to raise over $5,000 for the Intero Foundation! And we had a ton of fun doing it!

Thanks to everyone who participated and helped make this event a success! Check out the video highlights by clicking the link below.

Intero Foundation Supports Two Local Nonprofits in Morgan Hill

Two local nonprofits got some extra help this month thanks to a local nonprofit organization, The Intero Foundation. The Intero Foundation gave grants totaling $18,000 to Community Solutions and the Learning and Loving center. The grants will support the organization’s shared mission of providing help to children in need.

Community Solutions, a nonprofit organization based out of Morgan Hill, received $8,000. Its mission is to provide a comprehensive spectrum of prevention, intervention, treatment, and residential services to the communities of South Santa Clara County, South San Jose and San Benito County. The Learning and Loving, Education Center, also based out of Morgan Hill, is a non-profit educational project lead by the Sisters of the Presentation. The $10,000 grant they received will go towards the work of the Learning & Loving Education Center by providing educational opportunities and outreach to low-income immigrant women and their children who are living in south Santa Clara County of Northern California.

“In these challenging economic times, more and more people are in need of assistance and the Intero Foundation believes that by working together we can help solve these challenges,” said Russ Warrick, Realtor and Intero Morgan Hill Foundation representative. “We are proud to present a check for all the hard work these two wonderful organizations do to support the kids in our community.”

The Intero Foundation is a non–profit organization founded in 2003 that has raised more than $1.5 million to benefit children living in the communities we serve. The Intero Foundation is funded, promoted and governed by the real estate agents at Intero Real Estate services.  All members of the Intero community – executives, staff and agents – donate their time to further the Foundation’s mission.

To date, the Intero Foundation has lent its support to over 70 local charities – organizations that range in size and mission, but all work to positively impact the growth and well being of children by enhancing their education and personal development.

The Intero Insider: Being part of something bigger than ourselves

InteroFoundationLogoI try to keep the Intero Insider focused on you, the consumer. But today I want to share something that we do here at Intero that I am especially proud of.

And, when you think about it, this really is about you too.

I’m talking about the Intero Foundation.

Let me explain.

When we founded Intero just seven years ago, we set out to create a company that was different. That difference would be based on our values. One of those values is commitment – defined as; a pledge to do something, a state of being bound intellectually to a course of action.

As Realtors we earn our living by serving our community. So it was fundamental when creating Intero to figure out a way to give back to the community. We express this commitment now through the Intero Foundation.

To date, the Intero Foundation has donated $1,367,365 to local charities. These organizations range in size and mission, but all work to positively impact the growth and well being of children by enhancing their education and personal development.

Just last week, we announced our most recent list of beneficiaries, we were able to give out over $100,000 in one week divided amongst these organizations which work to make our children – and our communities — stronger: Dream Power Horsemanship, Rape Trauma Services, Family Connections, My New Red Shoes, Jacob’s Heart, Bill Wilson Center (SSJFY), Small Steps Foundation, Community Solutions, and the Learning & Loving Education Center.

To give you an idea of all the non-profits we’ve been able to contribute to since the foundation’s existence – here is our long list:

A Brighter Today Foundation, Alum Rock CounselingCenter, Assistance League of San Jose, Assistance League of Saratoga, Barrett Elementary School, Barrett Home School & Community Club, Bay Area Alliance for Youth Family Svcs, Bay Area Crisis Nursery, Bill Wilson Center (SSJFY), Buena Vista Auxiliary, Buenas Vidas Youth Ranch, Burnett Elementary School, Burton Elementary School, CampHope, CampTaylor, Carlmont Motivational Center, Children’s Hospital Branches, Community School of Arts, Community Solutions, Concord Youth Center, Cross Cultural Community Service Center, Cupertino Community Services, Dan Herbert CampHope, Diablo Valley Assistance League, Discovery Counseling Center, Discovery Counseling Center SCIP Program, Downs Syndrome Connection, Estrella Family Services, Family Connections, Family Giving Tree, Franklin McKinley Education Foundation, Friends Together, Future Families, Future Vision Mentoring, Generations in Jazz, Hellyer Elementary, Housing Industry Foundation, Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County, JW House, Learning for Life, Let Them Hear Foundation, Lincoln High School, Los Paseos Elementary School, Montalvo Arts Center, NAMI Contra Costa, National Alliance of the Mentally Ill, One Step Closer, Open Heart Kitchen, Organization of Special Needs Families, PACE, Partners for New Generations, Project Help, Quilt Museum, Rape Trauma Center, Rebekah Children’s Services, Role Model Program, San Francisco 49ers Academy, San Jose Education Foundation, Schmahl Science Workshop, Shelter Inc. of Contra Costa County, Silicon Valley Education Fund, Silvar-Charitable Foundation Trust, Small Steps, Social Advocates for Youth, Special Olympics, St. Rose Hospital Foundation, St. Joseph Family Center, Starting Point Arts, Super Stars Literacy Program, The Salvation Army, The Wellness Community, The Wish Book, Upward Bound Youth, US Relief for Unicef, Via Services, Westwind Riding Institute.

Each of us at Intero is proud to support these organizations.

So why does this matter to you? Well, there is an obvious connection: We are helping to make the place you call home (or are hoping to call home) better. And that matters.

But we are also expressing something about ourselves that might interest you: That we are a big organization, but not too big to remember that we are part of something still larger; that we take seriously our role as an organization rooted in a place; that we believe we must give in order to receive.

If you share these beliefs, if it matters to you what your real estate company does in the wider world, then we have created something for all of us.
