Do you have fired up energy or draining energy?
Every time you see them you try and avoid them like the plague because they are just so negative and draining. To them everything is a crisis…everyone and everything is out to get them. Nothing works and everything that is not going right in their world is someone else’s fault…never theirs. They never smile and they always seem to find the negative in everything and everybody…never the positive. Anytime there is a small setback
, it is like the world is coming to an end. They treat life like it is a WIN/LOSE game…and trust me
, there is no such thing. Whenever someone wins and someone loses
, both lose. Does this type of person sound familiar…do you know people like this? I sure do.
Then there are those people you love being around because for what ever reason they just have this positive energy about them which makes you feel good. They are always fired up
, have a smile on their face and having a good time. When there are small set backs
, they seem to find the positive side or don’t even acknowledge it…they just keep moving forward as if it is an expected part of the process. They are the ones who keep their emotions under control…they don’t yell
, they don’t scream
, they don’t attack
, they don’t fight and they don’t blame. Now don’t get me wrong
, they are passionate and fired up. They just don’t fight it…they seem to always find a way to use the flow to their advantage. They aren’t pushing…they seem to be getting pulled through life. They are WIN/WIN people…always looking for ways that they can WIN
, but so can everyone else.
The interesting thing about these two different types of people is that the positive ones almost always seem to win in all the equities of their life…Personally
, Professionally
, Business
, Health…you name it. They actually say people who smile and laugh a lot…the positive ones live longer and are much healthier and happier. The negative ones always seem to look unhealthy and anxious…they seem to struggle in business and in their relationships…they look run down.
So
, my question to you is which one are you? Be honest. Is your energy good energy or bad energy? Fired up energy or draining energy? If you asked those around you to describe your energy
, what would they say? Fired up and infectious or exhausting and draining. Are you positive or negative? Do you fight life or do you use those people and things around you to propel you to success.
It is a choice…another one of those small choices I write about every Monday morning. It is the cumulative affect of all those small choices that will get you are looking for in life.
Make it a GREAT week!!!!
Play hard and loose this week…play like a winner and you will be one!!!!
Good Morning MOJO,
When I was in high school and ran track, our track coach always had us keep our index finger and our thumb touching each other during our event, because when you do that, you cannot clinch your fist which is a natural tendency when you are sprinting. Why not clinch your fist you ask. Because you waist energy and effort…it actually makes you slow down.
2 times a week I workout with a group of people (Boot Camp). One of the things we do is run quarter mile sprints. Usually about ½ through the quarter mile our trainer will be yelling at us from across the track to relax, relax, relax… He is yelling at us to relax so we don’t struggle. When I relax, the most amazing thing happens, I actually run faster…while when I grit and try to run faster, I slow down.
Relax….
Looking at these hands, which one do you think is more at peace and more likely to get what it wants in life? Is it the fist or is it the open hand? Which one most represents you? How does that apply to us in our lives? Are we more likely to get what we want when we are threatening, intimidating, tense, stressed, and uptight….or are we more likely to get what we want when we are compassionate, relaxed, at peace and loose? I think we all know the answer to that question. Now don’t get me wrong…we still need to work our ass off…we may need to be discipline…we need to be organized…we need to be focused…we need to be accountable. However, in addition to those things we need to relax. If you are a runner, golfer, skier, tennis player…, any coach will tell you to be successful and play at the highest level you need to be able to play loose during process. With one month already behind us in 2009, remember as we attack our goals and ambitions that to go faster we must relax…to hit it farther, we must relax…to accomplish our goals in life and in business, we must relax…to win, we must relax!!!!
Play hard and loose this week…play like a winner and you will be one!!!!
Could you imagine a jet taking off on a runway that is full of junk? There is no way in the world you would ever step foot on a jet attempting to do that, yet that is the way most of us run our lives everyday.
Good Morning MOJO,
Could you imagine a jet taking off on a runway that is full of junk? There is no way in the world you would ever step foot on a jet attempting to do that, yet that is the way most of us run our lives everyday. Like a jet trying to take off on a runway full of garbage, our runway to success is the environment we live and work in every day. Everyday you go to work, look at your work space, your inbox, your voice mail box and you’re brain as your runway. Would you take off using those things as your runway…no way!!!!! If your desk if full of crap…if your inbox has hundreds or thousands of messages you have not dealt with…if you have crap running through your mind, you are destine for disaster.
Here is the easiest and most difficult thing we all need to do achieve success both personally and professionally…clean up our runways.
- Make sure your desk is spotless when you go home every night…you can throw away 80% to 90% of the crap on your desk. Think about it…you haven’t touched it in weeks or months. If you do end up needing it later, just go to Google, Yahoo or ask the packrat in the desk next to you for it.
- Make sure your inbox is empty every day when you go home…either reply, delete, or save it in a subfolder…deal with it and get it out of your inbox. Quit the procrastination!!!!
- Get it out of your head and write it down on a list. Our brains are made for creating ideas, not storing them.
The same things apply at home. Here we talked about our work runways, but we also have our personal/home runways. Make sure the strip is clean or you will crash there as well.
Clean it up so we can build speed, take off and achieve our dreams!!!
Make it a great week!!!!!
