Monday Morning MOJO 3/31/08

Good Morning MOJO,

“He is so lucky…everything always seems to go his way”. “We call her the golden girl…everything she touches turns to gold”. “If I only had a little of their luck, my life would sure be a lot better”. “They have such a great relationship…they are soul mates…they are so lucky”. That is how it appears from the outside looking in doesn’t it? It’s luck? But more times than not, it’s what I call “created luck”. What is “created luck” you ask? It is luck which comes to those who work extremely hard when you aren’t looking. They are the ones working at it… training…preparing…fine tuning their skills behind the scenes. All of their hard work and commitment helps improve their odds of being lucky. It’s simple…if you want to be lucky you have to work hard at it when no one is looking…fine tune your skills, and prepare yourself to take advantage of those opportunities to be lucky

Remember these 2 shots on the 16th hole at Augusta in the final round nearly 2 decades apart…Jack Nicklaus in the final round of his 1986 Masters victory…and Tiger Woods in the final round of his 2005 Masters victory? I would say this is a great example of “created luck”. I wonder how hard both Jack and Tiger work on their game. I wonder how discipline they are…what do you think? Come on…its just luck…right?

Make it a GREAT week…get out there and CREATE SOME LUCK!!!!!

Good Morning MOJO,

You ever notice when some people try and make a change in their business…their health…their relationships…in their life, they think the way to make it happen is just simply spending more time working on “it”. Not just a little more, but piling it on. They actually think running around like a chicken with your head cut off is actually going to accomplish something. Yeah right!!!!! I’m not going to say we may not need to work harder and be more discipline, but I think it’s more about working on our priorities and our efficiency as opposed to working on the volume and amount of time.

Don’t do more…do different. Well, maybe some of us need to do more. I do see a lot of people who “show up” but are not engaged in what they are doing. You know what I am talking about…the ones who stand around the water cooler all day criticizing everyone like they are the authority instead of looking in the mirror. They show up in body, but not in mind and action. It’s like their whole life is spent on the practice range but they never tee it up on the first tee. You do have to GO FOR “IT” or “IT” won’t happen. Don’t mistake showing up for work, for working…a lot of people show up, but don’t do anything towards accomplishing their goals. This is a great question to consider: Using work for an example…if you owned your company, would you pay yourself what you want to make for what you do everyday? Be honest.

If what you’re doing now is not getting you what you want, doing more of what you are currently doing is still not going to get you what you want. It’s just going to make you more frustrated. You have to do different…or in some cases you just have to do something. It’s about simplifying, being consistent and actually doing it…not just thinking about it and planning on how to do it, but actually DOING IT. Create rituals and systems which are duplicatable for the long haul. Because it is the accumulation effect of the small things over a long period of time which are going to make the biggest impact and are going to be something you will be able to maintain for a long period of time.

Here are 2 great books I would recommend reading if you are struggling to have that breakthrough:

Good Morning MOJO,

My life is in a rut!!!!

“I’m stuck in a rut…I’m just not happy with where I am in my life.”

We can feel this way about our health, our relationships, our job…we can feel like we are stuck in a rut, good or bad, about anything in life. So, how do we get out of the bad ruts? The bad new is, it takes a lot of work to get out of it. The good news is, when we are in a good rut it’s also hard to get out of it. The key is to get stuck in as many good ruts as possible. I call them the ruts of life. Look at all the equities of your life…Health, Family, Spirituality, Business, Financially, etc. What kind of a ruts are you stuck in…good or bad? We are either happy or you are sad…inspired or not inspired…purpose driven or not purpose driven…healthy or unhealthy…motivated or not motivated…have good relationships or bad relationships. I think anyone who tells us “its okay”…”I’m fine” is in a bad rut….they are just in denial. They just don’t know it and/or don’t want to admit it.

In life we can’t live between the ruts…its just too hard…its like trying to balance on a tight rope for our entire life…eventually we will get tired and we will fall into one or the other.…we can’t be indecisive. So, we have to accept the fact we are going to get stuck in one of the two ruts…either good ones or bad ones. In the book The Purpose Driven Life it say’s “Nothing shapes your life more than the commitments you choose to make. Your commitments can develop you or they can destroy you, but either way they will define you.”

Let’s make the commitment today to scrape and claw our way out of the bad ruts…once we are out, just roll over and fall into the good rut. There will be short term pain with getting out, but it will pass and then you will experience the long term gain of living life in the good ruts.

Get stuck in the good ruts and make it a GREAT week!!!!

Good Morning MOJO,

Ok, no complaining this week…it’s a GREAT life!!!!!! We Really Don’t Have Anything To Complain About!!!!! And we think we have it tough…can you only imagine?!?!?!?!

You stay up for 16 hours

He stays up for days on end.

You take a warm shower to help you wake up.

He goes days or weeks without running water.

You complain of a ‘headache’, and call in sick..

He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.

You put on your anti war/don’t support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.

He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.

You make sure you’re cell phone

is in your pocket.

He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.

You talk trash about your ‘buddies’ that aren’t with you.
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.

He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

You complain about how hot it is.

He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.

You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.
He doesn’t get to eat today.

Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.

He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean.

You go to the mall and get your hair redone.

He doesn’t have time to brush his teeth today.

You’re angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.

He’s told he will be held over an extra 2 months.

You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.

He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.

He holds his letter close and smells his love’s perfume.

You roll your eyes as a baby cries.

He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they’ll ever meet.

You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.

He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.

You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.

He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.

You see only what the media wants you to see.

He sees the broken bodies ly ing around him.

You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don’t.

He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger.

You stay at home and watch TV.

He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat

You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable.

He tries to sleep but gets woken by mort ars and helicopters all night long.

Enough said…Make it a GREAT week!!!!!

The Chateau at Heavenly Village Has Largest, Single-Day Sales Volume for South Lake Tahoe Real Estate Ever

Luxury real estate remains hot.The real estate market is slowing? You wouldn’t know by talking to the folks at the new Chateau at Heavenly Village in South Lake Tahoe. They hosted their first limited release offering for the project on February 23 at San Francisco’s Fairmont Hotel, and in just three hours sold more than $20 million in real estate.

Prices started at $500,000 and topped out at more than $3.4 million for the luxuriously furnished studio, one, two and three bedroom hotel-condominiums.

In addition to being the largest single day volume of South Lake Tahoe real estate sales ever, the projects $20 million in sales exceeded the total volume of home and condo sales in all of South Lake Tahoe for 2007. Units sold in excess of $1,300 per square-foot, which establishes a Tahoe area benchmark that exceeds prices in most mountain resort communities.

Yes, this project’s popularity is refreshing news for the real estate industry in Lake Tahoe. If you’re interested in the Chateau at Heavenly, contact Intero Resorts and New Homes & Developments.

Good Morning MOJO,

“They get up early everyday…actually the middle of the night by my standards…to exercise their mind, body and soul. Then they work all day with this passion…this drive, discipline and attitude which is absolutely off the charts. I just can’t figure it out….how do they stay motivated and always seem to be having fun. How do they stay so discipline…how do they keep such a positive attitude and a smile on their face when they are working so hard and in what always seem to be such stressful situations. It seems like it would be exhausting to be such a Radical Fanatical. Their motivation is just amazing. Its amazing how successful they are…I wish I was as motivated as them and then I could have what they’ve got.”

Heads up…it’s not motivation that drives them…ITS INSPIRATION.

When we are in inspired action and not motivated action, it is effortless. Trying to be motivated all of the time is exhausting and not maintainable. If we’re not inspired, all the motivation in the world will not get us to be like those fired up Radical Fanaticals…we will never be able to maintain it. You have to be inspired to do what most people aren’t willing to do. Its one thing to be motivated to do something for a day, week, month or even a year, but it is something completely different to be inspired to do something for a life time. You have to be inspired about your life, your family, your job, your health…you have to be INSPIRED about you!!!!!!

So, the million dollar question is…How do I get that inspired? We have to figure out our purpose in life. We have to figure out why in the world are we here on this earth…it’s not an accident. Unfortunately most people just go through the motions…the grind of life and never find their purpose.

Think about these people…think they have/had a purpose?

· Mother Teresa

· Martin Luther King

· Bill and Melinda Gates (The Gates Foundation) – it’s not about Microsoft

· The Pope

· The Dalai Lama

· Ghandi

· Tiger Woods (The Tiger Woods Foundation) – its not about golf

· Deepak Chopra

· Lance Armstrong (The LiveStrong Foundation) – it’s not about the Tour de France

· The President of the United States (whether you like them our not)

So, find your purpose.

To find your purpose I recommend reading The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth am I here for? I am about ½ way through it right now…it’s a GREAT book!!!!

http://www.amazon.com/Purpose-Driven-Life-What-Earth/dp/0310276993/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1204387597&sr=8-1

Make it a Purpose Driven day, week, month, year. Make it a purpose driven…inspiring LIFE!!!!

Find your purpose and get Inspired!!!!!!
